You could. I tried this with a Lectron adapter with my Audi Etron. I found that the adapter would cause the Tesla wall charger to overheat and reduce the current output. This would lead to longer charging times & and I had to reset power going to the charger to get it to return to “normal” after the charge session completed. I swapped it out, and went with the universal wall charger. I haven’t had a single issue charging since. It’s worth the extra $ to not have the headache of the adapter. An added benefit is everything is self contained when it comes to the J1772 connector that you use for non-Teslas. The adapter stays with the cable or on the wall connector. It’s impossible to lose!

I can’t tell you how glad I am that we purchased the universal instead of the regular key takeaways. Charging speed much slower on the regular also you can use all those adapters all day long but same brands like volvo for example won’t charge with the regular charger your buying but lets say you own a rivian or a ford EV you will run into the same issue and then spend another $500-$1,000 having the universal charger installed also just because of the level 2 charging speed the universal just makes more sense.
