Q: QuestionThe accessory cable is not long enough. Can I extend the lenght of the 3 wires? Also which side of the fuse should I connect the red & yellow wires?

• A:Answer Hi Ernesto, We do not recommend modification to our products, as they have not been tested for compatibility and reliability with our products. If you wish to do so, please do so with discretion and with the help of a trusted expert because damage to your dash cam or vehicle from improper installation is not covered by our warranty. Professional installation of the hardwiring cable is highly recommended. While yellow usually refers to the B+ and red to the ACC, the colors of the cables are not reliable indicators. Please inspect the cables to identify the cable. The B+ needs to be connected to a fuse that remains powered on when the engine is off while the ACC needs to be connected to a fuse that will turn off when the car is off. Please also be reminded that you need to enable Parking Mode in the settings to activate Parking Mode. Thinkware Customer Support

Q: QuestionI recently purchased q800 pro and the hardwire kit , the hardwire kit does not reach either of my fuse boxes in trunk and under the hood , how should I go about hardwiring it if the cable is too short ?

• A:Answer If you're comfortable with splicing wires, I'd cut the cable about an inch behind the fuse holders, then splice in extra red and yellow wire (of at least the same gauge or one size larger)then reattach the fuse holders to connect to your car's power source. I would twist and solder the splices then heat shrink them, or use self-sealing heat shrink crimp on butt-connectors for best long term reliability

Q: QuestionDoes anything prevent the camera from running the battery down in park mode if this is hard wired to the fuse box?

• A:Answer Hi there, All Thinkware dash cams have a built-in voltmeter and timer to prevent car battery drainage. The dash cam monitors the car battery voltage level using the built-in voltmeter and shuts itself down if the detected voltage level is below the customizable voltage threshold. The timer works similarly, where the dash cam shuts itself down after a predetermined time period in Parking Mode. Both these features can be found in the "Record Settings". • A:Answer Hello there! In our experience, there is no issue in regards to using the hardwire cable with jeep models/makes! However, the OBD II power cable is compatible with your vehicle, therefore you can use the OBD if there happens to be an issue with the hardwire cable!

• A:Answer It depends on which dash cam you purchase. My installer said "let me look to see if it came with the hardwire kit." And when he said it didn't, he suggested I purchase it. He went ahead and installed the camera and I went back in about two weeks for him to install the kit. Installing the kit took him 15 minutes. So, check the description of the dash cam you are considering. If your dash cam does not come with it, I would suggest you purchase both at the same time so you can get both installed at the same time.
