You can, but be prepared to cuddle it like a baby if not using a protective sleeve. The protection in the laptop compartment is weak and with the MacBook Pro's weight, you will feel the knocks on the bottom when setting it faster than snail speed. Thickness can support MacBook Pro's hight, even when using a sleeve. I attached a Photo for you to see.
