Yes it depends on the Network of other Tile Users. If there are many tile users in that city and they pass by your Luggatge with the Tile inside it will passively pick it up and transmit the coordinates to your app...(as long as you report it lost). Also your app will note last known position

I lost my car FOB and it cost me over $300 to get a new FOB & reprogramming for the new & 2nd FOB. Tile works by sending out a signal within a 100-foot radius.
