Yes you are correct. It has a suction only mode. From what I have been able to tell the only difference between this and the Pro is the display. The Pro has an animated display, this one doesn't. We've owned it for a few months and love it. It works very well, my wife is extremely happy with it.

This chart provided by Tineco shows that noth the extreme and the pro have the "Suction Only Mode". This chart shows the only different between the extreme and pro is the pro has the animation display and the extreme does not.

The S5 Extreme has a suction only mode to help you suck residual water on the floor while S5 Pro does not have this function. The other difference you might want to know is that S5 Pro has an LCD display that could provide real-time cleaning status and guidance, battery and suction levels, and maintenance alerts, but S5 Extreme uses an LED display.
