Yes. You will need to obtain a multi-stream cable card from your cable tv provider. It installs in the bottom of the unit. During setup, you will need to call both your cable provider and Tivo to get the card activated. Tivo is not plug and play like a DVD player but once you have it set up, you will never watch TV the same way again. Good luck and enjoy!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You may also need to get a tuning adaptor from your cable company to get all the channels. I need one with Spectrum ( Time Warner)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes to record shows, you need a Bolt or other Tivo DVR model, a cable card from cable company and a Tivo subscription. We, also, have a MOCA network bridge and multiple Mini Tivios for each TV, we record and play from the Bolt for all, works great!

The Tivo comes with an HDMI cable to connect to the tv, and Tivo has a monthly, Annual, or lifetime subscription plan. of course if you want to use it to stream Netflix, Hulu, etc, you need a separate subscription through them.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Tivo Bolt is the best DVR for cable IMO. You will need a cable card and if you have premium cable you will need a tuning adapter (simple box). its a very easy install and just works. You will need a subscription for the Tivo, but its likely cheaper to have a cable card and Tivo subscription than rent a cable company DVR. The experience of the Tivo is far better all around.
