I have had TIVO for over 10 years. You do have to get a card from your CABLE company and insert it into the box. Then you typically will have to contact your CABLE company and get it authorized. Took about 15 minutes for me to do it with Spectrum. I have far more recording choices with TIVO, more space to save recordings than Spectrum gave me, and with my Spectrum box, I lost my channels each and every time my box lost electricity and would have to program them in again. With TIVO that does not happen. I gave up TIVO when I moved into a new provider area. Worst mistake I ever made. Lost many options. Now I am back to watching TV the way "I" want to!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Tivo Bolt will simply replace your Xfinity DVR. You will need to contact Comcast to secure a CableCard to install in the Tivo Bolt. You will no longer be renting the Xfinity DVR so there will be a savings. If you have other Xfinity X1 extender units may need to replace them with standalone Xfinity cable boxes or Tivo Mini's. The cost for the Xfinity CableCard is based on market so you will need to check with Comcast.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I just use mine with an antenna, but from what I read on the www.Tivocommunity.com bulletinboard, you have to contact your cable provider to get a cable card to go into the Tivo. Some companies have a nominal charge for these cards, some no charge. I recommend spending some time on the bulletinboard to see what people say. Here's a post dealing with Xfinity: https://www.tivocommunity.com/community/index.php?threads/replace-dtv-with-xfinity-bolt-minis.557836/
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So the TiVo box connects to cable or antenna. If connected to cable you have to get a cable card from cable company that goes in the TiVo box. My cable card cost 1.99 per month. You also have to pay for TiVo service which is 14.99 per month. The pros of having TiVo is this particular TiVo has commercial skip, so after you have recorded a program, when you watch it later you can skip all the commercials with the push of a button. The other good thing is once you buy it, it is yours and this TiVo will connect to antenna tv allowing you to have a DVR without cable.
