- Answer Yes a subscription is required in order to have access to record and use the various Tivo features. You can purchase a monthly subscription at $14.99 or a lifetime subscription at $499.99. Keep in mind that a lifetime subscription is only applicable to the life of the unit you purchase the lifetime subscription on. It is NOT transferable to another unit you may purchase or acquire in the future.

- Answer Only one cable card is needed to use all four tuners and record up to 4 shows at once. Some cable providers like mine (time warner cable) require a tuner box to be hooked up to the tivo as well for all the channels to work.

- Answer No. A Tivo Roamio is ONLY good for use with an OTA (Over the Air) antenna, such as a rooftop antenna or a set top antenna (aka "rabbit ears") or a current cable subscription (with or without digital channels included) But keep in mind that in order to receive "digital cable channels" such as most HD networks, either premium or non premium, you will need a cablecard that can be provided by your cable provider for a small monthly fee. If your apartment complex uses satellite, you will need to inquire if the provider is Direct TV and NOT Dish Network, since a Tivo will NOT work with Dish Network.. If Direct TV is your provider, contact them to see if you can lease a Direct TV Tivo DVR.

- Answer You need an mcard CableCard from Comcast. Probably $2/mo from them. It has 4 tuners, so if you're recording 4 shows simultaneously and don't want to watch any of them, you can watch something you've previously recorded, but you can't watch a 5th live show.

- Answer Yes! This works well with Verizon FIOS and can be used to replace your current Verizon DVR. you will need the card from the back of the Verizon DVR to install in your TiVo if you are going to use Fios with the TiVo DVR.

- Answer The subscription fee covers the ability to use the box. Think of it as the monthly cost you would have to pay a cable company to use their box. The fee can be paid in 3 different ways: monthly, yearly, or lifetime (of that box).

- Answer i think the OTA only works with antenna. if you ever switch to cable then it won't work with it

- Answer Works fine with regular cable, but I had to get cable card from cable Co. to unscramble their signal. Cable card cost $2.50. Totally worth it.

- Answer I'm pretty sure that you have to pay a separate Lifetime fee for each TIVO box you purchase. As far as I am aware, the fee cannot be transferred between boxes.
