Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It's both. There's a linear story to follow and also you can go where ever but some areas depending on your level the enemies are entirely too hard. Like unbeatable hard. Some games theres areas where you can access too early (ie Dark Souls) but it's just difficult but doable depending on skill level.
