QuestionMy Tom Tom stopped working and I can't get into it to check the settings to find out why it won't turn on. There was no warning that anything was wrong. On the screen there is an orange box, maybe a battery? I've only had it for six months.

- Answer I had a problem like that on one of my GPS units several years ago...not sure if it was a Garmin or TomTom. Seems like I got it working again by charging for several hours based on advice from the supplier.

- Answer No, the GPS has built-in WiFi, just link it to your home wifi. The unit will notify you when an update (free) is available. When done driving for the day, bring it into your house, power it up with a USB AC adapter, confirm the update and it will update in a couple hours. It's much simpler than older gps units.

- Answer This unit does NOT receive traffic updates directly. You must link it with a smartphone, which is a pain in the posterior. Though a long TomTom user, I am switching to a Garmin SmartDrive 65 which, for almost the same price, has free traffic updates without a smartphone and also lets one give voice commands: "OK, Garmin, take me to 123 Sesame St., New York, New York." It also has more human-like directions, such as "Turn right on Lancaster at the Lincoln Fried Chicken." And it has other nice features, such as better graphics and a history database from the History Channel to tell you something about locations you pass.

- Answer Yes. What I like is I can make a route on my phone or see what routs the come up with on my phone the night before and then sync it the next day. Also easy to make a custom route on the phone.

QuestionI am trying to compare the TomTom Go essential with the TomTom Go Comfort. There isn"t a lot on information given on the Comfort to be able to do a good comparison. Any ideas

- Answer You do not need to buy a battery for this as there is a rechargeable battery built into the unit. You will however need to plug it into your accessory socket to charge it or updating the maps via wifi. The battery does not seem to last a great amount of time.
