Q: QuestionTomTom VIA 1510TM Special Edition 5" GPS w/Lifetime Updates / Model: 1EN5.052.12 / SKU: 6162265 Sometimes I find questions/answers do not state or match the exact item advertised. Does this model include a car charger in the box ? Not in the specs.

• A:Answer The box had two cables. One a USB cable to connects the device to your computet. Another cable is for use in your car. It connects to the 12 volt outlet and has a device on the cable which picks up the signal about traffic conditions. It also charges the device at the same time, which should also happen if you have the device connected to your computer.

Q: QuestionHow does the live traffic work on this device if it is not linked to a smartphone/data plan? Are the real-time traffic updates (received over radio waves) comparable to traffic routing that other cell-based apps would provide? Thanks!

• A:Answer Hey Kevin! Thanks for your question. The Traffic information that is used with the VIA 1505TM is by radio waves. The device comes with an 'RDS-TMC' Receiver included, which you can tune to your local area's radio traffic network. This information is not as timely or accurate as TomTom's Live Traffic, which is available on some models via connection to smartphone. Models that use this include the GO 520 / 620 models. Q: Question"Real Time Traffic Updates" - is that correct? So if the Interstate up ahead is stopped, the GPS will show 'red' and suggest rerouting, or does this particular unit only update the map itself, not current traffic?? Thanks.

Q: QuestionHow does the traffic receiver work? Do I have to have my radio set to a station that reports on traffic while using the GPS? Or can I simultaneously listen to the radio station of my choosing while the receiver connects to another station on its own?

The RDS Receiver will pick up the signal by itself, so you do not need to connect it to your radio and it will be possible to listen to the radio whilst using the accessory. You can keep the maps updated in the MyDrive Connect software on a computer: www.tomtom.com/getstarted This device does not feature the real-time TomTom Traffic (this is known as Live Services), however it can receive Traffic updates via the RDS-TMC signal which picks up congestion via a radio signal.
