Q: QuestionHow can I switch from 5GHz to 2.4GHz? I have some smart bulbs that apparently can only connect to a 2.4GHz network.

• A:Answer Hi! Both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are simultaneously broadcast and available for your devices. If you have bulbs that only support 2.4 GHz, then by default, they will only see and connect to the router's 2.4 GHz network.

• A:Answer Hi! Static IP Addressing is performed on the client device (printer, computer, etc.) only. For the router, you can instead opt to use the DHCP Address Reservation feature. This allows you to ensure the router's DHCP server only assigns a specific IP address to a device, based on that device's MAC (Media Access Control) address. While it achieves a similar end result, Static IP and DHCP Reservation use different methods to reach a similar goal.

Q: QuestionHow do I configure this to get the advertised speeds? I'm only getting about 700 down and 100 up. I have test my connection has been tested to support over 2.5Gbs, and my device wifi antenna has as well. Considering returning if I can't get this fixed.

• A:Answer Hello Samuel, The advertised speeds via Wireless i.e. AX3000 are the combined network transmit rates of both bands. It is not the wireless internet speeds you will see. That is different and not something we can guarantee or advertise. The ethernet speeds of up to 2.5Gbps are based on the Ethernet port on your modem, the router, and the ethernet cable used between the two devices. LAN side depends on the LAN port on the router the ethernet port on your client and the ethernet cable. The LAN ports are only capable of up to 1 Gbps. So it is possible you are getting the most you are able to get based on the factors above. We do still recommend contacting support for more assistance.

Q: QuestionI need to boost my WiFi signal enough to reach my workshop. The linear distance from the current router location to my workshop is about 180 feet. Will this router easily meet that requirement, or should I opt for something stronger?

Q: QuestionI currently use a Time Capsule as a router. If i purchase the TP-Link - Archer AX3000 Pro is it just a matter of connecting the TC to the TP-Link with an ethernet cable and then connecting the TP-Link to the ISP modem?

• A:Answer No, this router will not likely cover a 5,000 sq ft house. 2,500 square feet should be possible but not 5,000. The router does support OneMesh, so using this router in conjunction with OneMesh Range Extenders you would be able to create a Mesh network and that should help achieve a 5,000 sq ft home

Q: QuestionWill this unit work for an outdoor security camera? I'm having trouble getting a good wifi signal outside, even though the distance between the router and camera is only about 25 feet. There are a few walls in between though.

• A:Answer Hi! As long as your outdoor security camera connects to your router, and not to a proprietary hub, it should be compatible. As for improving connectivity, there are various factors that will come into play and determine whether a strong enough signal will reach your camera's location. For example, the multiple walls will likely be one of the biggest contributing factors, depending on their construction material (e.g., drywall, concrete, etc.) Another factor will be which Wi-Fi band the cameras connect to (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz). If, for some reason, the Archer AX3000 Pro does not provide ample connectivity for your specific needs, we would suggest considering one of our Deco Mesh Wi-Fi Systems to provide whole-home Wi-Fi coverage.
