Once you set up the plug with Alexa you can use the plug in any room in the house from any Amazon Echo in the house. In other words you can control the bedroom plug from both the living room and the bedroom With Alexa.

The light and Alexa do not have to be in the same room I use one of the plugs to control my overhead garage lights. Additionally, the switches can be controlled from a smart phone or tablet. Please try again later.I'm assuming your buying 2 amazon echo dot's (alexa is the voice control/automation interface in the echo dot's) Basically you will plug the Echo Dot's into a standard outlet anywhere you wish so as long as the area has wifi. You will want the Echo Dots powered on at all times so they can respond to your voice commands. The Kasa plugs can be used anywhere in your home you have wifi. The Kasa plugs get their commands via wifi and do not have to be in the same room as the Echo Dot's. Once the Echo Dot's are setup and running properly using the Alexa app on you phone or tablet, you can proceed to setup the Kasa smart plugs. You will need to install the Kasa app on your phone or tablet and follow installation steps to connect the wifi plugs to your home wifi and then link them to the Amazon Echo dot/Alexa automation system. So for example, you have 2 Echos and one plug. You can use the plug for a lamp in the living room, and control that lamp from both of your Echos.

You can control whatever device/appliance is connected to these plugs from any room that has your Alexa. For example if the plug is connected to a lamp in the living room and your Alexa is in your bedroom.
