Hi. This is Katrina from TracFone Wireless. Yes. This phone will work just fine without an active service from TracFone so long as it is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Yes. In fact, I have mobile data turned off most of the time so that I may cruise the internet and download info/apps/games using my wifi only. I only turn on mobile data if I am not near a wifi hotspot or at home (where I use my desktop setup and wifi modem). To turn off mobile data, go to settings, tap "connections", tap ""data usage", then tap "mobile data" off/on toggle to "off". You will then be using wifi only to access the internet. I have used 0 B of mobile data for weeks now using wifi only. Remember, you must pay Tracfone for mobile data usage, and if you run out of your limited mobile data, then the only way you will be able to access the internet is by using wifi, and only if wifi is available.
