Yes, you can hear yourself through the headphone speakers when you're talking. This is called "mic-monitoring" or the Astro brand of headsets calls it "side tone" effect. Excellent feature, in my opinion. On a scale of 1 thru 10 of how good the mic-monitoring is, I would give it an 8 out of 10. The absolute best I've ever experienced (10 out of 10) is an older model: Turtle Beach Stealth 500x, but this headset was wireless and started developing sync issues with the transmitter. I tried the Turtle Beach mic adapter that plugs into the bottom of your controller, as it has 3 different settings for mic monitoring, but the best setting was still a 4 out of 10 in my book. Xbox has mic monitoring built into the console, but it's worthless, a 1 out of 10, only makes any difference if you normally have the microphone right on your mouth, otherwise it's worthless. In order to get any mic monitoring that's actually worth your time, you have to get a headset that has it's own power source other than just the headphone plug-in jack (also known as the 3.5mm jack). So either battery-powered or USB-powered, but USB-powered is practically obsolete now, as the battery-powered headsets have become much more affordable than they used to be.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nope. If someone else is echoing then maybe but no matter what headset you but that’s going to happen. You can adjust mic and headset volume which helps if people can hear what’s going on in your background
