Only If Your Mini DV tape player/camera can be made to connect to the RCA Phono Jacks that are on the VIDBOX unit
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This product was great to bring my older video tapes into my computer. It was from my first video camera which had the old 8mm tapes, not DV, but the family memories were priceless. You could use this product for DV tapes if you have rca, composite, or s-video outputs on your playback device, but you might be taking a big downgrade in resolution. You should do an internet search on the different cables to see the best case resolutions they are capable of. RCA(480i), composite(480i), S-video(480i), component(1080p), HDMI(1080p), and firewire(1080p). I was surprised. This product's hardware supports RCA, Composite, and S-video. I did use the software that came with this to import my HDV/DV mini tapes, but I had to add the firewire card to my computer and get a cable to do it. I also have a Sony HDV camcorder and the best way I found to import the tapes is to use Firewire (IEEE1394) card. Sony calls it i.Link The files are pretty large. 10gb for a 1 hour tape, but they are HD quality.
