Yes, you can set it up with a cable box via HDMI. Only thing is that the monitor does not have an IR sensor so you would not be able to control the power or volume of the monitor with the remote control. If you have any more specific questions, please reach out to us directly. You can call us at 800-688-6688. Please be ready with the unit’s serial number (found on sticker) so that we may promptly assist. We are available M-F 6am to 6pm PST. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know. You could stream programs through apps on your computer to watch them, but since the monitor does not have broadcast television equipment installed I doubt it. Actually, Best Buy sells good-sized, quality televisions for less than the price of this monitor so that's an alternative.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Some cable and satellite boxes have remotes that do allow you to adjust the volume that comes from the set-top box itself. Pressing the power button on the rear panel isn't a deal breaker is it? Some monitors have power sensing technology that puts the panel into sleep mode automatically. Check with the manufacturer if this is the case. If so then you should have no trouble using this as a Full HD TV set. With the extra display inputs and audio connectors you could switch between TV entertainment, gaming, PC use, etc. I hope this helps, FunFractals
