• Yes, this model is capable of grinding coffee beans. The blending bowl starter kit is not needed, you are able to blend in the container that comes standard with the machine.

• It can probably grind coffee. We have ground oats and grains. I wouldn’t recommend it though. You don’t typically want to pulverize coffee beans. There are some pretty good manual and electric grinders for around $30-$50 with ceramic or steel burrs that will let you vary the coarseness of the grind. I think this vitamix will just get you coffee bean dust potentially useful for espresso.
