• 3.1 has 3 speakers compare to the 2.1 has 2 speakers. Better voice sound than the 2.1.

• The 3.1 has an extra speaker in the center compared to the 2.1. The .1 is the sub-woofer.

• The difference is that the 3.1 channel has a center channel speaker in the bar in addition to the left and right, which helps to deliver sound like when people are speaking in addition to the surround or background sounds.

• These answers are correctangular, I just wish the specifications made it clear that there does exist a center speaker and what additional power is provided. That would be my question, how much power is avaluable to each of the speakers?
