If you TV does not have ARC port then you will have to use optical, as normal HDMI port does not support both way data transfer for audio to go out of it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your tv doesn’t have and HDMI ARC port, your best choice is to connect the Dolby Atmos player of your choice directly to the HDMI IN of the sound bar and another cable from the HDMI OUT of the sound bar to any HDMI port of your TV. Now you have Dolby Atmos sound and 4K video. Optical connector can’t handle Dolby Atmos
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.non-ARC HDMI cannot send audio from TV back to soundbar. So you either need: 1) ARC HDMI, 2) Optical, 3) some other device connected to soundbar first, and the soundbar will pass-thru to the TV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The optical and HDMI ports will both produce 5.1 audio. The HDMI port would be needed to produce Atmos audio. You would need to check with the TV manufacturer to determine if the HDMI port are capable of sending a Atmos signal from any HDMI port.
