HDMI OUT is used to connect the sound bar to the HDMI IN (ARC) port on your tv, is the only way to obtain Dolby Atmos sound when available (optical connector can’t handle Dolby Atmos). Now that the Vizio bar is using one of the HDMI inputs on your tv, the sound bar gives the option to connect any HDMI device to the HDMI IN port and pass the content to your tv. You can connect, for example, an Apple TV 4K, your Xbox One X, Fire tv stick 4K, UHD Blu-ray player and the bar will play the sound in Dolby Atmos passing the video in 4K with HDR or Dolby Vision depending on the content.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are 2 HDMI port on this sound bar. One is HDMI in , which u connect to ur game console, blu ray player and second is HDMI Arc which u connect to ur TVs HDMI Arc port. If you only connect HDMI Arc to ur tv, then tv redirect its audio to sound bar. If you have both HDMI connected to sound bar, then sound bar passthru Video signals to TV via Arc port. Hdmi in port is needed to send the Dolby Atmos signals from ur source to sound bar, unless ur TV can pass thru atmos audio to sound bar via arc( highly unlikely).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The HDMI PORT IS FOR ARC AND FOR INPUT. THE ARC ALLOWS ALL OF YOUR DEVICES CONNECTED TO YOUR TV TO WORK WITH THE SOUND BAR. THE INPUT IS TO CONNECT ONE DEVICE DIRECTLY TO THE SOUND BAR.
