Not very well for content less than 1080. This is my only disappointment besides it not being a 3D television.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The VIZIO line up doesn't upscale very well unfortunately. In my opinion, it looked rather soft. LG and Samsung have a fantastic upscaling abilities. However, if you went with a KS8000 or UH8500 you would have to choose between better upscaling with subpar local dimming or stick with Vizio's lack of upscaling features.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I try to avoid watching SD content as I want the best picture possible. I play old DVDs through a Sony Blueray and it upscales way better from 480p, even slightly from 720p than the Vizio does. The Vizio upscaling from 480p is more soft and 'cloudy' than say the Sony BDP-S6700 Blueray or a Samsung KS8000. However 1080p or 1080i upscaled to 2160p, the Vizio does a very good job, comparable to Sony and Samsung. I mostly use the Sony for playing legacy SD material and to play blueray disks and I also have a Roku 4 for expanded streaming options (like Amazon Video, Netflix, Ultraflix, Playstation Vue, etc.) The Sony also streams internet material so between Smartcast, Sony and Roku I have a plethora of streaming material to send to the Vizio display.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.when playing a DVD thru my Sony BDP-S6500 on to the Vizio P55 C1 Its good enough that I decided not to replace the DVD with a blu-ray disk
