Josh, if you want it to turn off and on by itself, you have to have the eco mode turned OFF (I know that sounds odd). I had the same problem and called Vizio and that is what they told me to do. Worked like a charm. Apparently eco mode negates the turning off when the TV goes off due to the SmartCast function of the TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. What worked for me is pressing volume up and not the power button on my Vizio TV remote, will turn on the Vizio soundbar.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would have to cycle input to soundbar to increase/decrease volume. In other words it was playing sound from the soundbar at the level set when tv was turned off. Solved this by putting tv in ECO mode. This would power of the soundbar when tv was turned off cycling the input when the tv was turned on. Fixed after 3 months of dealing with it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Samsung 4k TV connected to Vizio sound bar via Optical cable. When I turn power off using Samsung TV remote, Vizio sound bar power stays on. I can only use Samsung TV remote to control Vizio sound bar volume (Source->Universal Remote->Optical->VIZIO). On the other hand, I have no issues with Xfinity remote. I set up Xfinity remote to control both TV and Soundbar volume. Xfinity remote is able to turn on/off power of both pieces of equipment at the same time.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Vizio help desk was no help, I had to hook up the optical for the sound because the pay boxes on all the time causes the soundbar to turn on in the middle of the night even though the TV is off
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Again, REALLY, 3 years and 10 months with no answer. (Best), I can figure, it can't be done with the Opti cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For my setup, I used the HDMI ARC cable to a Sony’s bravia tv. The tv is set to external speakers. When the tv turns on (I have it and the sound bar on a smart plug so no power when off) it will then send signal to soundbar to turn on. From a cold start, this can take several seconds. The TV at first may not detect the sound bar and starts paying sound through tv speakers, but then it “detects” the sound bar powered on and switches to external speakers (the Sony tv displays on screen info basically giving that play by play). At first I was impatient and thought things weren’t working. But learned to just sit back for a few seconds while the devices started up and figured things out.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your TV must support CEC or to signal the sound bar to turn on/off. Also, the hdmi cable must be plugged into the audio return channel port of the TV. If using optical cable or coax cable, you won't be able to have the power sync with the TV automatically.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
