• batteries are included for each phone and must be installed by the purchaser. The phones will not connect directly to the base; each handsets sits in a charger that is plugged into a standard electrical outlet.

• Steph - The VTech IS8151-5 comes with 2.4V NI-MH battery pack for each cordless handset. Only the telephone base requires connection to an electrical outlet and a telephone jack or modem to get a dial tone. The small chargers connect to an electrical outlet only. Thank you! - VTech Support
