There are two types of call answering. One is built into your VTech Phone. The other is the call answering that is provided by you phone provider (in my case that is Verizon). You can do a Google search for your cell provider to see what code you need to enter to review any voicemail that is stored there. (With Verizon it is *86 send.) After you empty that voicemailbox, the indicator on the VTech will go away. While you are on that call, you can also set the Verizon voicemail to never answer your calls, or set the ring delay to a very high number, like 10. Keeping it at a very high number means it probably won't record a message unless your VTech is off, or you are talking on the VTech when a call comes in.

These messages are different from the ones recorded on the built in answering machine.
