How can I recycle used RPWFE filters? null

I addressed an envelope to the E Indianapolis site, weighed it, and calculated the postage. $9.00. A rather hefty expense for being a good citizen

I just contacted GE about this and got the exact same answer as another commentor about how many pounds of materials they recycle, but that its not cost effective to recycle filters. I told them that cost effectiveness is not the only answer for this.

Recycle GE Water Filter Cartridges: GE, the supplier of popular refrigerator water filters, is also doing their part in recycling used water filters. When replacing your old GE filter: 1.) Remove the excess water from your old filter (let it drain overnight). 2.) Place the filter in a plastic, re-sealable bag. 3.) Sit the filter inside a sealed mailing envelope. 4.) Address the filter to: Stericycle Expert Sustainability Attn: water filter recycling 2770 Fortune Circle Drive East Indianapolis, IN 46241

I usually throw them away. I don’t recycle them u could ask the store they should know

Hi Spike- GE Appliances does not have a recycling program at this time; it is generally not cost effective to refurbish or reuse filters. However, GE Appliances recycles 14 million pounds of cardboard, wood, and plastic every year. You may check with your local recycling center. Thanks for reaching out to us! SUE@GEA
