The only difference between the RPWF and the RPWFE is a chip on the back of the E which tells when to change the filter and supposedly detect leaks. To bypass this nearly $40 over charge by GE, take the sticker containing the chip off of the old filter and place it in the exact spot on the new RPWF filter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The E is the new fancy one I believe that tells the newer GE's that it's a genuine GE replacement part. Similar to the new Keurig, they want to make sure you're using THEIR replacement parts.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Rpfw patent expired allowing for increased competition. Introduce rpfwe with new patent and now they can continue to overcharge. Been using rpfw for the last year without an issue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is a RFID chip on the back of the filter that communicates with the Refrigerator. That is why the filter will not work in newer refrigerators like the GE Profile.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The RPFWE is the upgraded version of the RPFW. I called GE before I purchased and was told this and that they are RPFW replacements. I purchased the RPFWE for my refrigerator and no issues or problems (installed for about a month now).

The RPWFE replaces the RPWF and is backward compatible for all models using the RPWF. Most new French-door models will start to use the RPWFE. Models that come with the RPWFE cannot use the RPWF. The RPWFE features the Advanced Filtration from the RPWF as well as being NSF certified to to reduce VOCs. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!
