On the phone with customer service for 25 minutes and they have no idea what plastic is in the filter nor any options for recycling. :(
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I contacted LG yesterday to inquire about recycling refrigerator water filters. Although they have a recycling program and recycle appliances, they do not recycle refrigerator water filters. I'm still looking for other options.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi AJ. PLease contact our Support Center at (800) 243-0000 and they can advise you about if they can accept the Water Filter for Select LG Refrigerators, MOdel # LT800P via mail or if they can recommend a drop-off location for a recycling program. You can also scatter excess sand or charcoal from the filter in your yard or empty it into your trash can, rinse the filter shell with warm water and clean it with mild dish detergent, allow the shell to dry then place the filter in a plastic bag. Our Support Center will be able to tell you what sort of plastic the filter shell is made of.. Some local recyclers only accept #1 or #2 levels of plastic and others accept up to level # 5.The type of used for the filter shell is printed on the shell – you'll find a “1,” “2,” “3,” “4,” or “5” surrounded by three arrows that form a triangular shape. You can contact your recycler to inquire what level of plastic they accept. You can also visit us at http://www.lgrecyclingprogram.com/ and enter your zip code or address to find LG drop off sites for the filter...^IFV
