I am also using a SATA 2.0 motherboard on Windows 10 because my processor is still working fine, and I am happy to tell you that the Evo 850 is working great on my system—so I think you should definitely get this drive. Note that the excellent performance in spite of only SATA 2.0 actually makes sense because most of what our drives are doing all day is random reads and writes, which means they typically aren't doing tasks that will allow them to realize their full read/write bandwidth. Because solid state disks (i.e., SSDs like this EVO 850) perform random read/writes orders of magnitude faster than hard disk drives (i.e., HDDs), you will see an incredible performance boost even though you are running SATA 2. And this EVO 850 is proving to be exceptional at everything it does in my hands.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I checked the specs of your motherboard on the ASUS website, and it uses Serial ATA (SATA) 3Gb/s, as you stated. This WD HDD uses a SATA 6 Gb/s interface, but is backwards-compatible with SATA 3 Gb/s motherboards. So, yes, the drive should work with your motherboard. Also, based on the size and speed of that HDD, I highly doubt you would notice any difference in speed with it on SATA 3 Gb/s vs SATA 6 Gb/s. Hope this helps. DISCLAIMER: It's possible for your specific motherboard and that specific HDD to be incompatible with each other. It's recommended to check the motherboard manufacturer's website for a list of compatible HDDs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it will.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This Drive seems to work just fine in my PC which has both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 slots and I current have several of these HD on both right now.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use it on SATA 2.0 docking station.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes they're backwards compatible
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use mine in a SATA 2 machine and it works just fine. Although it may technically run slower I haven't noticed any obvious slow downs. I don't think a traditional spinning hard drive can fully utilize the speed of SATA 3 anyway.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is a limit to all motherboards. Do your do diligence and research yours not just for how fast but for how many and how big it can handle. The reason it should be used on a SATA 3 Motherboard is the amount storage it has to access to find a file written on it. Yes a SATA 3 will work on a SATA 2 motherboard. But why?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As far as I know SATA is SATA, as long as the plug fits the computer should be smart enough to use it!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.slow yes, but it will work.....
