QuestionIs there a real difference between the Easystore and the My Passport models besides the Hardware Encryption (which I have no clue what that does) and the Password Protection? Just trying to justify spending less money if I can. TIA.

That said you get an extra year warranty password protection and the 5tb passport does work with Time machine. I own both only because at the time, one was a better buy than the other when i needed space. Really the speed of transfer and reliability is the same.

- Answer Yes it is. That was the whole reason I purchased mine. 500gb xbox was full and had to delete games every time an update or new game came out. Easy to use just plug it in and follow the onscreen instructions.

- Answer Most USB power portable HDD are only 5400 RPM and usually come with 16MB Cache which would include this model.

- Answer Yes you can use it for Xbox games but you will have to plug in the drive to the Xbox and have the Xbox format the drive the drive will no longer be usable for anything else except Xbox until you format it again erasing everything on it. for instance when you upgrade to a new system and no longer need it on the Xbox or just decide to connected to a computer.

- Answer Do you mean Apple or PC? If so, then yes however you will have to format it for the MacOS filesystem as it comes out of the box as NTFS(windows filesystem). Something to consider is the exFAT file system which is supported by windows,Mac, AND even linux directly can all share files. If you need to have files shared across windows and mac exfat would work best most likely. Or, you can partition the drive to have different sections for each but the Macs HFS+ filesystem CANNOT be read by windows and Mac can only read(not write to NTFS) so exfat allows both to play nicely.

- Answer Actually I am about to order one right now and I see that the one with KUZ in the middle of model number can be used on PCs with Windows7 and the one with AJP cannot. That might be significant for someone out there needing external storage...

- Answer I use mine for video and I am able to process my files easily from the device without slowing anything down. I haven’t tried formatting photos yet, but if it can handle full movies, I bet photos would be possible as well.

- Answer Storage medium is traditional platters so yes, there are moving parts. And yes, in most cases if there is a mechanical failure, a data recovery center can typically get files back off of this type of hard drive.

- Answer There is a software app on the drive to get it to talk with your Mac. I am using it for time machine backups on my iMac. The one thing I have noticed is that periodically the computer will not automatically back up to the drive. The drive is there but somehow time machine backup doesn't see it. I click on the drive and the app that allows the drive and computer to communicate and then it works again.

- Answer As long as the drive is connected to a computer and you connect your phone or SD card if pictures are saved there, then there will be no problem whatsoever. I bought it to take all of the pictures off off my Galaxy S10 , and my daughters pictures off of my computer I had to reset. So all in all it is a great to buy I love using it mainly for my downloaded movies. Also it's pretty convenient to hold 5 Trig's in the palm of your hand.

Questiondoes this require anything special like software or drivers? I want to use forever to store pictures and video. I have an older external hard drive that I can't even acces anything on it now because its outdated or not compatible with my new laptop.

- Answer Nothing special is needed. I use one of these drives as my picture and video vault. When I want to move some files from my main computer for storage, I just plug the drive into an empty port and copy the file to the hard drive for storage. Works like a charm.
