I purchased a My Cloud, and then got the My Cloud Home when it came out to compare. From what I've seen, the main differences are that the MyCloud Home has a faster ethernet link (1 Gig) and faster internal processor, but the tradeoff is that for some reason WD made the decision to take away the Admin console that comes with the original MyCloud. This would allow you to set up permissions and share folders across multiple users (for instance, you, your spouse, and your kids could all have their own separate storage space, but you could also set up a shared "Family" folder that you all had access to in order to share files\photos\etc... that everyone in your family had access to. The MyCloud Home does not allow you to do that. You each sign up and get your own separate space, but you do not have the option of setting up any shared folders. This makes absolutely no sense to me and I don't see why WD would choose to come up with an update to their product line that actually removes useful functionality that was already available on previous versions. Weighing taking the MyCloud Home back because of this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The My Cloud Home appears to be a relabeled My Cloud external drive that is only being sold under this name at BB. They did something similar with the regular external drives called the My Book and reliable it Easy Store. However, when they did that with the My Books they removed the hardware based security encryption feature so I just compared the features in the cloud versions and the Home version labeled only for BB doesn't have password protection and the normal My Cloud external drive does. The BB drive will make all of your files stored on it available to all users on your home network whereas the other will let you give different access to members of your family. I'm not sure I'd want my kids having carte blanch access to all of the files that I might store (unless i didn't care about my tax records accidentally being deleted) so i wouldn't be comfortable with no username/password capability. The "home" variation wouldn't be a good choice for my situation. Hope that helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Both can do that. The mycloud home does not have an option to create a safepoint which is a backup of the drive. I siuggest getting the my cloud. I’m about to.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The WD My Cloud Home is the newer model Network Attached Storage device from Western Digital. It just came out in the past week. WD My Cloud is the older model. The newer model software offers less control, but you may be fine with that if you want simplicity. Both will allow you to store photos and have them accessible via the cloud.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You must have Win 10, 64 bit for their app or support. For win10, 32 bit version, you have to map a drive. No much information unless digging around the site.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.MY Cloud is just an external drive like a USB drive. My Cloud Home is a server that attaches to your router and will store pictures and videos and allow them to be on your network and if your savvy enough you can open a port on your router and access it from outside your network. My cloud home will allow you to organize your pictures if you want, just depends on how much time you want to spend. NOTE: if you open the port even your home automation devices like Alexa can access the data and show pictures or play music.
