It has sleep mode turned on by default. But can be overridden with the wd Drive Utilities - which I would recommend. the lag time from wake up is annoying.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the drive is supposed to keep spinning (anytime you hear it or the drive is plugged in). It probably only costs a dime (for a whole day) to power the drive in "Auto Standby Mode".
