It comes with a cable that you just plug into your USB port. You will be able to move or copy anything to it that you can download or that is sitting on your PC. No software setup required. Just plug in, make sure you locate where the drive is (on my laptop, my hard drive is C:\ and this devices comes up as E:\ so I make sure anything I save or move or copy to this external hard drive is on E:\). From there, you can create your own file folders such as: E:\Photos of Canada Trip
