- Answer Hi Dad, The WD My Passport SSD can be used with both Windows and Mac OS computers for backup. However, the WD Backup software is only Windows OS compatible. - Answer Hi Chas, The WD My Passport SSD is formatted as a single exFAT partition which is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS computers. However, Time Machine backups can not be configured on an exFAT drive and require reformatting to HFS+ format. Now, the limitation with the HFS+ drive is that it is not supported by Windows OS. QuestionSince encrypted how can I read or edit? The WD Passport I currently backup saved everything encrypted in garbly goop so I can't read the file name, let alone document name when I open the Passport drive.

- Answer You wouldn't be back to just plug it in and do it, but you could plug this into a home router (if it has a USB on it somewhere) and then upload to them via home network. Otherwise you would need to backup to the cloud and retrieve them with a computer to move them to this device, or through itunes. Good luck!

- Answer It should however odds are your XP machine won't support USB 3.1 so this will most likely be capped at USB2 speeds. It will be faster than a traditional hard drive but not by much.
