• A:Answer Yes, it works; however, do not install the included WD software, including the security package. It does not play nice with the Mac and is very frustrating. If you purchase this portable, simply use with Time Machine and you will be satisfied.

• A:Answer You would have to format it with a FAT file system. The Apple extended file system and the NTFS are proprietary to either Mac OS or Windows. The FAT file system can be read by either operating system.

However, you can reformat the drive in NTFS to use with Windows or in exFAT for both Windows and macOS. Please be informed that reformatting is a data destructive process.
