You should use a nickel-safe ice machine cleaner. White vinegar works pretty well too. You need an acid cleaner to remove the scale deposits. ONLY after it is thoroughly rinsed, you need a chlorine bleach solution to remove the mildew and mold. Sometimes it takes a couple of rounds of each. A good bit of the mineral scale and mildew is not really washed by the cleaning cycle though... it takes some manual cleaning once in a while...
