QuestionAnyone experience issues with the fridge staying cold? We got the first one replaced bc even set at 36, temps would get up to 43! Now on the second one and still set at 36 but temps up to 41????? Just bad luck or poor design?

QuestionFor the fridge part, can the drawers be pulled open by opening a single door? Or do both doors need to be opened to allow the drawer to pull open?

- Answer Hello, There are 2 Veggie/Fruit drawers. The one drawer on the left can be opened without both doors being open, but the right veggie drawer will only open if both fridge doors are open. Very strange design. The fridge is absolutely beautiful, but does have a few functionality flaws. To further what the previous reviewer stated about fridge not being able to hold a wine bottle. I found this to be true, but was able to work around it. The fridge door will hold an unopened wine bottle, but will not hold a bottle that has been re-corked or has a wine stopper in it. I was able to place some 3M stickies on the door to keep the middle door shelf higher (not a great fix for an expensive fridge, but it did the trick). The design flaws aren't bad enough that I would return the fridge, but did wish I knew before purchasing. This is a new model, so there was not one available for me to see in person before making the buy.

QuestionWas not aware this refrigerator did not come with a water filter for the ice maker,spoke with whirlpool, all they could say is that it dose not have a filter. Dose anybody who has purchased this model set up an external filter that hooks up to the fridge

- Answer The freezer on the bottom left with the ice maker can be set at 5, 3, 1, 0, -2, -4, -6, and -8 deg fahrenheit. The freezer on the bottom right (the multi temp compartment) can be 0, -2, -4 deg fahrenheit as a freezer; 10 deg and 19 deg as mild/soft freezers. When plugged in, it defaults to 0 deg for both freezers and 37 degrees for the fridge.

- Answer Hello Kay, if you do not plan to use the Ice Maker you do not need to connect the ice maker. Please make sure to turn the ice maker to the off position. We hope this helps.

Questionmanual states the side of the fridge gets warm due to cooling mechanism but ours is really hot. I’m worried because one side is exposed & I have 2 children. I took a thermometer to the side that reads up to 107.6 & it’s hotter then that. Anyone else?

- Answer Mine got very warm after we first plugged it in and it gets moderately warm after the doors have been open for a bit (when loading it after grocery shopping or going in and out of it continuously), but its never been so hot that i would worry about getting burned. When the fridge hasn't been opened for a while the sides are pretty cool.

QuestionWill it fit in a 36" space with a wall on 1 side and a countertop on the other. I'm ok with the wall side not opening more than 90 degrees.It looks like the hinge may be inset enough so that the width doesn't exceed the 35.75" depth but I'm not certain.

- Answer I just purchased this fridge to replace a much deeper, but about the same width LG (don't buy by the way). I too have a wall on one side and a counter on the other. We had to pull it out so that at least the left door opened a lot more than 90 degrees and the right one opens a little more than 90 degrees. This was so that we could pull out the drawers in the freezer. It works, but we had the room to do it because like I said, our old refrigerator was much deeper.

QuestionHow do I set the freezer temperature colder (farhenheit) than the default setting? The directions in the manufacturer pamphlet are not specific enough for me to follow...I do not understand how to do it...I need a more explicit direction please !

- Answer Since the author of the official Whirlpool response doesn't understand that they are sending you to a link that is the exact same ambiguous answer as the manual you already have in hand, here is the actual answer to your question: Hold the lock/unlock (right most) button until the 3-2-1 countdown finishes. Then tap the zone you want to adjust, toggling through the available temps until you see the temp you want. As far as I can tell, the fridge will only adjust between 36-43F. Once you have the temp you want, hold the respective zone button for 3 seconds and it will remember your new setting. For what it's worth, I also struggled with the poorly written manual. Hope this helps.
