Yes it has separate controls. I keep mine in the garage in the Midwest. Did take about 2 weeks to stabilize the temps. I put separate thermometers, one in fridge, one in freezer to monitor temps. Got mine in September when avg temp in garage was 85 so had to go one above recommended setting to maintain below 0 in freezer and below 40 in fridge. Hoping as winter approaches to be able to put at recommended settings.
