My refrigerator is only 3 years old and has developed the same issue with the wires in the door breaking. We're in the process of determining if it can be fixed or if we have a nice refrigerator that will not have an ice maker which is not acceptable after only 3 years. We did not purchase an extended warranty and I will not pay $900 for a new door. I think you'd be taking a big risk if you buy this refrigerator.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Complete engineering trash. To fix it is new $1000 door. I ended up learning to solder and did it myself with jumper wires (smaller wires break/cut first, then larger) so I’ve soldered twice and it will just cut whatever is left and this will be my last fix because the original wires going into the door are getting too short. I’ll never buy whirlpool (or any of their subsidiaries) again. The wiring should have never passed quality control. The internet is full of people complaining about this issue but they do nothing but give lip service.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a similar model with the icemaker in the door but about 6 years old and yes the wires have broken near the lower hinge on the freezer door. 3 in fact and a 4th was starting to break. The wires were completely broken open.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Don't buy it! The wires broke after 2 years and tech spliced and fixed at a cost of $200 only to be a year later and the wires are broken again. It is a design flaw.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Cancel this is an issue that there are lots of videos on youtube about it. My side by side is 5 years old and no ice for 2 years have to buy ice. Whirlpool said buy a new door but that will not fix the problem just a piece of crap company and product.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Same problem ….refrigerator one year old
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know this is 3 years late, but hopefully you did not buy this particular model. We had the same exact problem as others have detailed with broken wires in our door. Horrible design and poor quality. I'm about to fix it for the 2nd time and we are seriously considering another refrigerator even though this one is only 3 years old.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine is 3 years old. Same problem. Don't buy this junk!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I read the same thing. I had a Samsung French door prior to this fridge and had the typical issues with ice maker any fridge side. I did not want another French door or Samsung so I decided to go with the whirlpool. So far happy with purchase. I did buy extended warranty with this fridge.
