You can not put filters in the washer.

You can wash filters by soaking in household ammonia and hot water. Do NOT put in dishwasher as it will corrode the aluminum.

The Whirlpool instructions for this unit state e explicitly "Wash the metal filter as needed in a dishwasher or hot detergent solution."
