Bleach, yes. Softener, no. For softener you have to choose a particular rinse cycle ("Rinse with softener, or 2 Rinses with softener") and the wait around for the rinse cycle to put the softener in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am SO disappointed, I only wish I had done my homework BEFORE purchasing this washer Whirlpool WTW5000DW, 4.3 cu. feet equivalent to 20 pounds of laundry., and taking 32 1/4 gallons of water to fill up that cubic space. Why? no fabric softener dispenser. This means that with every load I have a few choices: 1. Babysit this machine until entering the rinse cycle, then add the fabric softener; 2. Avoid fabric softener and switch to the dryer dispensed towelettes; 3. Vault up/down 3 flights anticipating the start of the rinse cycle (no digital countdown); 4. Get ready, do as the Whirlpool customer service rep told me yesterday -- add everything detergent, bleach, whatever (yes, the softener) at the start of the wash cycle and let it rip. We ALL know that's incorrect, it's even in their manual; 4.Resort to the Downy balls and just ordered 3, let me try that out, ordered on line, awaiting delivery. And just as an aside, I had a Whirlpool washer for 20 years. This had a bleach and fabric softener dispenser (good) but cautionary word. Bleach being caustic in short order corroded the enamel around the dispenser to rust, then the rust was flicking off during the wash cycle and became a permanent stain on everything. I was using Naval Jelly to remove the rust -- and at that time the Whirlpool warrantee covered the body against rust, and 15 years ago a repairman replaced that top part. The result? I never again used the bleach dispenser, I would dilute the bleach and then pour it into the machine while filling. Now with Oxy-Clean I very rarely use bleach.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has a place for bleach, but not fabric softener. My issue is that using the liquid bleach in the container bleaches the clothes washed that are my white clothes. The problem is that the next load I was ruins my clothes because they also must get bleached because the clothes come out with bleach marks on them. Has anyone else had this bleach issue, or am I doing something wrong?
