To turn the light off after washing, you push the on/off button to turn the power off and the light goes out with the door open. We leave our door open as well.

Yes but doesn't stay on long. No button to turn off/on.

Only for a few minutes then it turns itself off. You can turn it off sooner by touching the Extra Rinse button for 3 seconds.
