It is in the middle, at floor level. Part of the installation is to raise the top of the dryer, which pivots the control panel to the rear. That gives you the right distance for the dryer fro the wall. I installed a regular corrigated exhaust tube, and it fit perfectly (able to make a 90º turn to my exit tubing) without a kink, and lay properly in the space between the dryer and wall. You can get a pre-made close fit kit called a periscope as well. It is flatter and you can push the dryer closer to the wall.
