• Your are correct. There is no dispenser for the fabric softener. You'll have to use a Downy Fabric Ball and place the ball on top of the load before starting.

• You have to buy one of those fabric softener balls that you throw in on top of the clothes. Believe me, I thought the same thing then I happened to look at the directions on the lid of the machine.

• You have to get a separate dispenser that goes right in the washer and is reusable they are very inexpensive. Looks like a plastic ball about the size of a baseball.

• The instructions clearly state that fabric softener can be added using a Downy Ball. I have used in the past and actually find it cleaner and neater.
