We have 2 cats, and we got 2 only because they're upstairs and down stairs all the time. We empty the one upstairs (main house) about once a week, when it's 75% - 85% full. The one downstairs is about every other week. I would think 2 would also work for you with possibly more frequent emptying. There is a 15 min. (more or less) wait time between uses while it waits to let the clumps form to cycles to empty the dirty litter, and the time starts over if another cat enters. I highly recommend them and they are well worth the money. You don't have to use their bags. We use tall kitchen bags, and they work just as well. You don't have to worry about when to empty, because the apt tells you. The cats love it because they always have clean litter, and they don't drag it out with them. I'm 75 years old, and it was becoming difficult to empty the roll over litterboxes we were using, and they were not near as clean or effective.

I’m sure it would work for 4 it was just need emptied and filled a few more times a week. They are wonderful to have though. This is my second model I would hate to have to live without one now.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, i have 4 cats and it works great. You do need to empty the liter a little more often. I usually have to empty mine about every week or so. Its not that big of deal though, its like taking the trash out.

Mind you it was a brand new litter robot 4, so it was ready for the challange. Ive now got 2 robots 4s and 2 robots 3s. I love these things. No issues with the robots 4s yet. The older 3s and feeder are bots are hanging in but have issues that require a little troubleshooting here and there
