A:Answer We have 2 cats, and we got 2 only because they're upstairs and down stairs all the time. We empty the one upstairs (main house) about once a week, when it's 75% - 85% full. The one downstairs is about every other week. I would think 2 would also work for you with possibly more frequent emptying. There is a 15 min. (more or less) wait time between uses while it waits to let the clumps form to cycles to empty the dirty litter, and the time starts over if another cat enters. I highly recommend them and they are well worth the money. You don't have to use their bags. We use tall kitchen bags, and they work just as well. You don't have to worry about when to empty, because the apt tells you. The cats love it because they always have clean litter, and they don't drag it out with them. I'm 75 years old, and it was becoming difficult to empty the roll over litterboxes we were using, and they were not near as clean or effective.
