- Answer There is a very faint line just below that ledge. But I usually fill it up until it's just below the basket and that works great

QuestionIs the ice similar to the kind found at Sonic? (light & airy)

- Answer It is not the same sort of ice. The smallest one of those machines will be about 4 times the price of this one. When this ice is first made, it isn't easily chewable. But the ice isn't as hard as freezer ice so as it sits in the basket and melts a bit, it tends to get more porous and easier to chew. It doesn't ever get as soft as sonic ice though.

- Answer I have never tried that not sure if it would work, I put the ice in a cooler, and use it that way. sorry if this doesn't help.

QuestionDoes this ice maker keep the ice cold for short periods of time or does it start melting as soon as it is dumped into the basket? If it starts melting unless you take it out every 10-15 then when you put it in the freezer you will have a huge hunk of ice.

QuestionWhat is the storage capacity for this unit? What is the max pounds that unit will hold at any given time?

- Answer The other answer isn't accurate. The maximum daily output (if you remove ice before the basket is full for a day) should be around 49 pounds. I estimate the basket probably holds a little over 2 pounds. The basket is probably about 2.5 times the volume of the 26 lb models. The ice cubes are quite a bit larger than the 26 lb model puts out so it takes fewer to fill a glass. I find the 26 pound model only stores enough for 2 glasses - this one can fill about 4 or 5 comparable glasses with a basket full. I had to run the 26 lb model all day long to keep up due to the basket size, but I can run this one a couple of hours before lunch and the larger cubes last long enough for me use for the remainder of the day.

- Answer It can hold a gallon and a half of water. But I only use bottle water it's better for the I maker.
