I am extremely happy with this product. I do not like to keep moving mouse all over so I prefer this track ball, which can sit stationary at one place and I can surf all over any document or web page. What a relief!

This is my 2nd Logitech - M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse, I don't like a regular mouse since I've been using a trackball, which is about 10 years now. Easy to operate 2 fingers & a thumb. I now have 2 Trackballs for my 2 Desktops, I will probably purchase another one for my laptop in the near future.

I have large hands and this mouse is great because my hand cramps up using a regular mouse. The thumb wheel is smooth and the buttons are in the correct position. The only reason for 3 stars is the mouse started losing connection and re-connection at random after 1 yr and 6 months of use. I would have to wiggle the wireless USB connector to have the mouse connect. It is a great mouse but the connector can start having issues after a 1.5 years. Buy a protection plan which I did and I'm glad I did.

This is my first trackball, and I use it at work for document editing and web searches—no gaming. Two weeks into using the M570, I can say that I LOVE it. As a Mac user, I typically use Apple products and already had a Magic Mouse to use with my MacBook Pro at work. But I when I got an ergonomic keyboard* tray, there wasn't enough space for using the Magic Mouse (or any other mouse that requires being manually moved across a surface). I decided to kill two birds with one stone: 1) get an ergonomically improved mouse, and 2) get a mouse that stays in one place and will fit on my keyboard tray. That led me to reading reviews for various trackballs. I thought briefly about getting the fancier Logitech MX ERGO Plus trackball with the adjustable tilt, but at over $90, I decided to try this less expensive M570 given its excellent ratings and the fact that it was on a great sale at $23.99 online. I absolutely love it! Being new to using a trackball, it took me a day to get used to zipping across my dual displays with the cursor, but it quickly became natural. My job involves a lot of Word document editing, and I have no trouble positioning the cursor exactly between two letters in word at 125% zoom. And my hand and wrist fall very naturally around this mouse (I'm a 5'5" female with small hands). Although I wasn't experiencing much wrist discomfort with the Magic Mouse, I was always very careful to hold my wrist in the appropriate angle to reduce repetitive strain. Because the trackball relies on your thumb to rotate the ball while your hand just rests on top of the mouse, your wrist is generally static, and this works great for me. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is the M570 scroll wheel--it's like any other standard scroll wheel that you'd find these days on a PC mouse, which means it doesn't fly as effortlessly as the scroll function on the Magic Mouse (which is just a finger flick). Thus, I still use my Magic Mouse for scrolling through long docs--it just sits next to the trackball, whose scroll wheel I use more for scrolling within a single page of a document that I'm editing or a web site. I'm very pleased with my purchase and have been giving my coworkers a sales pitch for this trackball. :) *I also just purchased the Logitech 750 Solar Wireless Keyboard, the black PC version vs. the white Mac-esque version because the PC version advertises "a concave key cap design". Note that this keyboard will work with Mac computers, but you have to remap a couple of keys--thus check online that your Mac model can do this if you want the black keyboard. I then used a single Logitech Unifying Receiver to link them both to my computer.

    Smooth and comfortable trackball

I've been using trackballs almost since I started using computers. This one is definitely the best to date. It's a huge leap forward in comfort over the previous generation of trackballs from Logitech. I own quite a few of these, one for every computer I have and I will say they last a good while. I've only retired one that I was using for probably around 2 years (can't remember but it was the very first one I bought when this model first released). I only retired it because the buttons were getting a little squishy instead of having a firm click. It is still 100% usable though as I have it still as a backup for my servers when I need to access them directly. The tracking is very precise. I even prefer this trackball over gaming mice when playing games. And owning probably around 8 of these currently I think I can safely say the quality control is pretty good because I haven't had any with any defects. The battery life is amazing, a single AA battery lasts for over a year! I really can only think of two downsides to this trackball. One, it collects a little more lint and such than a standard mouse. I'm guessing this is due to the trackball being in the air so dust falls down into the crack easier, and also it picks up small amounts from your thumb when using it. That is ok though, because the ball is very easy to pop out and clean. The other downside, and this one is a little more annoying, is that it uses Logitechs proprietary wireless dongle. I really wish they would have simply made this thing bluetooth even if it would have sacrificed some battery life. It would be much more convenient with the majority of laptops these days coming with bluetooth, to not have to use up a USB slot for the dongle. It would also make it much easier to use with tablets that might only have one or no USB slot.

Cool Tracking Device - Maybe not be for everyone

I used a track ball pointing device 15 years ago and remember them being useful for most applications. I also remember them collecting dust on the rollers fairly quick which caused them to become a pain to clean and maintain. Additionally the oil from my fingers would get all over the ball and that would cause problems with accuracy of the pointer as well. Fast forward to today... I felt a bit of nostalgia buying this device. The main difference here is the roller-ball is operated by the thumb versus your index & middle finger for instance so that takes some getting used to, especially if you're transitioning from a traditional mouse. The plus though, is that your wrist gets a break (or a nice rest rather) and that could help those who tend to suffer from carpal tunnel. This device is wireless which is pretty great for those of us who despise wires snaking everywhere. The smal low profilel usb dongle is a Logitech Unifying one so you can pair multiple logitech unifying compatible devices to it. The one con I have with this device so far is (and it may just be a personal thing) that it's somewhat difficult to get this device to be in the most natural angle without having to keep shifting it around. Sometimes I feel like my thumb is going to cramp up and that might just be because I'm not used to this device yet, or maybe I have an unusually long thumb? I don't know, but I hope that feeling will go away eventually! I am a motion graphics designer and video editor and this device works fairly well... again, it may take some getting used to so if you're in the middle of a big project with a tight deadline, you might want to stick with your old mouse... or if you're daring, go for it and give it a try. You can always switch back to your preferred method of pointing at things on the screen. I took away 1 star because I think there is definitely some room for improvement in the ergonomics dept. (maybe moving the ball more to the center). The learning curve might be really awkward for some people especially if they've never used a track-ball before. Otherwise, this device works well as an alternate pointing device to your mouse or a trackpad. I would recommend this device to anyone who might be suffering from carpal tunnel or those who just like playing will cool gadgets. This will definitely look cool on your desk.

This unit was purchased to replace a 10 year old Logitech Trackman Wheel, which is the usb-wired trackball that the M570 is based on. Considering the sheer number of hours the old unit was used, I can only hope this new wireless unit lasts at least half as long. Starting off, the M570 is slightly smaller in all dimensions than the old unit, and has more rounded edges. This makes it fall to hand slightly better, but Is taking some time to adapt. The marble is not as smooth/glossy as the old one, so it doesn't spin as freely, which makes it feel like junk has built up on the glides, so that is a negative. The extra two buttons have limited use on a mac and fall in a location where my finger used to click the older left button, so that's taking some getting used to. This is not a bluetooth device, which is a negative. It uses it's own radio transmitter that takes up a usb port. Luckily, it seems to work plugged into an apple wired keyboard so I'm not giving up any of the 4 ports on my Mac. The unit performs as a thumb-based trackball should, and being so similar to the trackman wheel is the main reason I chose it. There are very few good trackballs out there, and even fewer include a scroll wheel, which I considered a requirement. The unit was on sale at BestBuy.com for $20 off, and the local store matched that price without me having to mention it. I also got another $5 off thanks to their competitive price matching policy when I showed the same unit on sale from amazon. It was easy to find in my local BestBuy store, as it was with the desktop computer accessories on a logitech-branded display.

M570 Wireless Trackball Mouse is the only one I have used for 10 years, that caters to my needs, since it helps ease with mt carpal tunnel & arthritic hands & fingers issues. Compare to regular, laser or any other, this is the best. Easy to use, never failed me and doesn't need bottom traction or a flat surface to interact with the screen, just the trackball movement with your thumb. The wheel & right/left click for your fingers, functions the same as a generic mouse. I have used it a couple of feet away, on top of a cushion, on the wall, even in the air, and still functions with no problem, ever. Based on my personal experience, this is the best and highly recommended.

I was leery about purchasing a wireless mouse until I saw that it was built by Logitech. I have had several different products that they make and I have been pleased with all of them for looks and function. This wireless mouse is No exception. I put my battery in and put the receiver in the side of my new laptop and Nothing happened! Turn the mouse over and I had forgotten to turn on the switch to the mouse to "on" and instantly had the mouse moving the curser. Easy breezy! I also forgot about the the switch for the mouse and left it on for two days and when I came back and discovered it was on I automatically assumed the battery was dead but it operates perfectly . Great Mouse!

Great IR mouse. Great price. I've used several different types of IR mouse brands and models but this one is probably the best I've found, especially at this price. The ball at the thumb is a plus for me, with the wheel between the left and right buttons is so easy to navigate. We have several of these--one for each of our computers and laptops. They are durable. They take a four foot dive onto a ceramic floor often and keep on working like nothing happened (ok, maybe I have to chase a little ball every once in a while--it is easy enough just to pop back in). The battery (AA) lasts a very long time. It isn't a gaming mouse, but it a very good working mouse. We love ours.
