The Trackman was a classic of Logitech's lineup. And while we don't use dial-up anymore for some very good reasons, there's nothing really to explain why the trackball has fallen from grace.
Thus, the M570, which brings us back to the era of trackballs, renewed with wireless functionality, an extensive battery life, and better precision than in the past.
The M570 is a wireless mouse featuring 4 main buttons, a scroll wheel with its typical middle click, a large marble for mouse movement, and four rubberized feet for planting the device when navigating. It rarely moves unless you're intending to move it, and it works on basically any surface, glass, wood, fabric, you name it.
The marble is the star of the show. By using your thumb, you're free to scroll through the entire screen of whatever device you're using. You may notice it takes a lot of swipes to get where you wanna go, or that precisely hitting some targets can be difficult. You should look into turning on mouse acceleration to deal with that. Once it's all squared away with, it's a great mouse. No wire means it can go anywhere, so you can even use it in bed, or on your lap.
It may serve those with disabilities the best. Since you need only use your thumb, you aren't making movements of the wrist, reducing carple-tunnel syndrome. Furthermore the angle at which your hand rests on the device means you avoid scissoring the bones in your arm, whichever typically pinch nerves.
I only wish the device had horizontal scrolling with the scroll wheel, and featured a precision button. These features exist on the more premium MX Ergo from Logitech, but that can cost double or even triple the price of the M570. By contrast, the M570 can go on sale down to $30, making it a fantastic purchase.

This is my 2nd Logitech Trackball mouse. I really like the trackball mouse compared to the normal mouse because there is less strain in my elbow. With the wireless trackball, there is no tangle of cable to deal with.
Picked up this 2nd Logitech Trackball mouse from BestBuy when the price was really low. At the time of purchase, BestBuy was not the best price online but comparing with shipping cost and waiting for the product to arrive, BestBuy was the most convinient. Picking up the item from BestBuy was quick and easy after purchasing the item online.

This trackball is 90+% as good as the MX Ergo that Logitech sells all day long for twice the price as this trackball.
I have come back to trackballs after some time away from them, as I've started to get some RSI-type pain in my wrist. To try to keep my wrists from getting worse, I've invested in a trackball and have been more concerned with ergonomics overall. I use the MX Ergo at work (work paid for it) and this M570 at home (I paid for it).
The MX Ergo has some advantages like Bluetooth support (helpful for laptops with limited USB ports for the dongle) and adjustable angled foot, but for half the price I'd buy the M570 all day long.
Battery life is so robust with the M570, I don't count the rechargeable battery in the MX as a plus - I've had to charge my MX at work already, while my M570 at home shows full charge even with still using the included batteries.

I've used Logitech trackballs for years now, and this wireless version is by far the best. My recent purchase was for my home PC, having been using one with my laptop for years. It's replacing a corded version - but the battery life of the cordless is so good now it's worth losing the cord. The size is perfect to rest my whole hand on, and the only maintenance is to occasionally remove the ball and clean the tiny ball bearings inside. Overall excellent product.

I wanted a mouse to use with my laptop. With it being a laptop, it's usually being used on a soft surface such as the couch or on my bed- rarely on a flat smooth surface where a traditional laser mouse would work.I knew I needed a trackball mouse that I could keep stationary and use it on soft surfaces. I love that I can control the direction of the mouse with my thumb and not have to move it all over the place and then reset it like a traditional mouse. I also love it has the scroll and the back and forward buttons.
One trouble I was having with my laptop mouse was as I was trying to scroll, I'd keep my index finger on the left click and use my middle finger to scroll up or down on the mouse pad. After so long, my knuckle joint started to bother me. With the trackball mouse that doesn't happen, especially since it has the scroll built in. Its nice I can have my laptop in my lap and put the mouse any where. I tend to be cold all the time and it's awesome to be able to have the mouse next to me under the blanket instead of my arm on a table with my fingers freezing. It has little grips on the button so if I do put it on the laptop it stays.
It has a timer and a colored on off button on the bottom. With the timer, if i forget to turn it off, it will on it's own, saving the battery. I've had it about a month or more so not sure how long they last but when reviewing the description, it said about 18 months. Over all, I really like it. I wish my job provided a trackball mouse!

If you like wireless, this trackball works great, and batteries last a long time. Still, for those who prefer to avoid extra RF and batteries, it sure would be nice if Logitech would also make a wired version of this. I would be more likely to buy a wired one than a wireless one. But the wireless one works great for what it is.

This is the second one of these I have bought and they are a solid, reliable and easy to setup. The first one I bought did finally wear out but it took more than 5 years to do it so I rate that a good lifetime for a product I handle every day. It has all the essentials you need, a wheel, three buttons and some extra programmable thumb buttons. I personally don't use those but it is a nice feature. I find the battery life to be quite long more than 8 months of heavy use even with the econo-brand AA's. Probably a lot better if you buy name brand batteries.

If you have a situation where you need to use a mouse but don't have a good surface to use it on, this is the device you need. I've been using this model daily for years. I used my first one over 3 years needing to change the battery maybe 2 times. After several years of heavy use, the clicker wore on one of the buttons. A mouse with heavy use lasting for years until clicker failure is certainly not a bad thing. I'm on my 2nd one now. The occasional removal of the ball and cleaning of the sensors will be needed. You can pair this device with a Logitech unifying receiver and save on the amount of dongles attached to your PC.

The mouse has good action with the track ball and action keys are responsive. It is a bit large for my mouse surface pad connected to my under desk keyboard tray but it is wireless so can be used on desk surface. Nice to have dongle storage inside bottom of mouse and on/off switch to save battery. Due to my wrist surgery I should have bought a vertical mouse but this track ball mouse is still a good product. I gave it 4 stars because the size is a bit large. Overall, good product.

Trackballs are much more convenient than meeces! They take up less desk space & are easier on the wrist. This design hasn't really changed in a long time; however, it's a tank! It has more customization than I quite know what to do with, but also can be used as-is without bothering with the extras. The installation is a breeze. I really like the wireless function. Only problem is they're not really repairable. I took my old one apart to evict the cat fur & never got it to work right again. I do have to note it was over 10 years old!

This is the only trackball / mouse that I use. I've used it for three or four years now and when one throws in the towel, I immediately replace it with another. Cordless so you can use it anywhere without getting tangled up. It's perfect in a desk environment but it really shines when you are working in a non-traditional environment (coffee shop, couch, lap, etc.).
My only complaint would be that I have worn out three of them in the last few years ... the mouse clickers don't seem to be up to the task for long term use.

Solid Quality Trackball, Proprietary Interface

This is basically the old trackman wheel with a radio interface instead of a hardline usb cable. Don't think that you are freeing a USB port by switching, you now have to use Logitech's proprietary radio interface which means plugging a USB dongle into a port. Since Bluetooth is so common these days, there is no reason Logitech couldn't have released a universal bluetooth device.
Usability, this is an excellent thumb-operated trackball with 5 user programmable buttons and a scroll wheel (which is button #5 as well.) Battery life seems to be decent, I turn the trackball off each night but leave it on during the day when the computer is turned on (8-10 hours/day.)
Logitech's software is okay on a Mac OS X system, and is required to program the 3 extra buttons. Without their app, you still have left/right click buttons and the scroll wheel; but not the scroll wheel button or the two small forward/back buttons next to the left click button.
I've noticed that this unit collects dust on the rollers for the trackball much faster than the old wired unit, and those rollers are plastic instead of metal, so I am cleaning it more carefully and often than in the past.

I wear my trackball out every year or 2; I game a lot. I do everything from laptop and the tack ball works perfectly for moving around, changing position, and sitting on the couch or in bed to watch movies etc.... I don't need extra space to move around the mouse; I can even turn the mouse upside down and still use it (long story).

This works great for me and my wife. We both have Carpal Tunnel as well as Arthritis and we are both able to use this. Being able to get up and move around without being tripped up by a cord attached to you computer is a good sight safer too. We seem to be getting good battery life also. Thanks for carrying it Best Buy.

The M570 trackball is wireless & ergonomic. Very efficient and allows precision in cursor movement with a range of 30 feet.
It has a battery life of 18 months, AA size battery. There is a battery life indicator that lets you know when you’re about to run out of battery. Switch on bottom to turn off.
The mouse has 4 buttons (left/right click and previous/next page buttons & scroll wheel. Can be used for gaming as well.
Highly Recommended. Best Buy will price match if you find this model cheaper as well as an other merch you intend to buy.

This was purchased to minimize wrist movement, great if you have a constrained workspace or are trying to avoid RSI/carpal tunnel. The only downside is that when cleaning the trackball, sometimes you need to pop it back out after reseating it. The contacts don't always detect the ball (or maybe dust moves over the contact after shifting the trackball) the first seating. A very minor issue, and meanwhile the battery life is stellar.

BEEN USING THIS SAME TYPE OF MOUSE FOR YEARS. DROPPED MY LAST ONE TOO MANY TIMES AND IT QUIT WORKING., ONLY REASON I BOUGHT A NEW ONE. I USE A WIRELESS KEY BOARD AND WIRELESS MOUSE AND SURF FROM MY LAZY BOY RECLINER. MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE THAN SITTING AT A DESK. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOUSE TO ANYONE THAT LIKES A ROLLER BALL TYPE OF MOUSE. IT WORKS GREAT AND YOU CAN PROGRAM THE BUTTONS TO YOUR LIKING. MY LAST ONE, THE ONE THAT BROKE, WAS OVER EIGHT YEARS OLD AND STILL GOING STRONG UNTIL I DROPPED IT ONE TOO MANY TIMES. THEY ARE GOOD ON BATTERIES TOO. GOOD ITEM.

I have been using this model of trackball mouse for years. My only complaint it that the buttons wear out after about 2 years and I have to buy a new one. I am a frequent computer user so I expect some wear and tear. Otherwise, when in good condition, this mouse is the best I have used in my life. I love trackballs over regular mouse and will never go back. Also, Best Buy had the best price....even beat Amazon.

A wireless mouse is a must and this was the only real trackball option available at Best Buy in a wireless. I chose a trackball mouse due to shoulder pain while working with a traditional wireless mouse. It took a while to get used to. I wish the ball was a little larger and the size slightly smaller to fit my petite hand. Still, I have adjusted and wouldn't go back. My shoulder is loving the change!
