We are living full time in our motor home and needed something compact and powerful. I didn't realize how much I would like this vacuum. This is excellent for this or any purpose.

June ‘21 was 2 yrs, and Nov. ‘21 it’s failing me. Will run for 2-3 minutes then shuts off. Place it back in the charging cradle, and instantly remove and it will run another 2-3 minutes. Not sure what is wrong with it, but there must be a reason Dyson only has a 2 yr warranty for cordless vacuums unlike the 5 yr on corded ones.

Great for pet hair, spills, or general cleaning. Pros: works well, light, portable, easy to use, can even reach ceilings. Cons: short battery life, smaller canister needs emptying more frequently. I find after using this for a while that I clean more frequently because it's accessible and easy to use, which means I'm not vacuuming the whole house for an hour, so the battery life really hasn't impacted me.

I was skeptical when we saw this vacuum in the store. It's odd looking and expensive. I'd had 2 inexpensive stick vacuums that didn't last or work very well on our hardwood floors and rugs. We have 4 dogs, so we needed a good vacuum.
This Dyson is amazing and worth the money. We've only had it 2 weeks; but I've used most of the tools and used the vacuum most every day. I've cleaned the sofa with the hand held portion and mini motor tool, the car interior as well, and the full vacuum on hardwoods; rugs and steps. We have a Kirby, but I don't like to use it. It's heavy and awkward so we keep it downstairs for the basement carpet. However, I used the Dyson on that downstairs carpet and it did a fantastic job. It's very versatile and goes under the bed all the way and into tight areas. Quick and easy to use and no cord! Plenty of suction for pet hair. I do empty the cup out often as its not very large, but not a big deal as its easy and quick to empty as I pass by a trash can.
It easily goes from hardwood to rug without missing a beat....then to the linoleum in the kitchen....and to the deeper carpet downstairs.
* lightweight * plenty of suction * versatile -goes around corners and tight spaces * detach wand from motor and you have a hand held cordless vac for sofa or car or stairs. Downside: small cup, but not a big deal compared to the great features of the vacuum.

This was the biggest dime I've ever dropped on a vacuum, but after using it for several weeks, I regret not buying one sooner. Just for fun, I cleaned with my old vacuum before running the Dyson, and it was astounding to see how much extra it still picked up. It's lightweight, easy to use, and actually sort of fun.
I have three complaints about the Dyson:
1. The canister is small even for a cordless. I have to empty it several times to clean a single room.
2. Emptying the canister is somewhat difficult and sometimes makes a mess that you have to turn around and clean up. Pet hair can form a clog that you have to pull out with your fingers.
3. The battery life is just short enough to make you worry that you aren't moving fast enough.
That being said, as I move toward the "clean less, more often" mindset, 1 and 3 are less of a problem. But I do wish there was a different method of emptying the bin.

I had always declined to buy a Dyson vacuum -- first of all, because they are extremely expensive, and secondly, it seemed like a status symbol type of purchase -- that people bragged about their Dysons because they paid so much for them, not because they were actually good vacuums. I mean, how good can a vacuum really be to justify paying that price for it? Then I saw the commercial for the Dyson cordless V6 Animal vacuums -- I admit I was intrigued! I still didn't believe they could really be that great, but when they went on sale on Black Friday 2016 I finally decided to purchase one. I got it from Best Buy knowing I could bring it back if it was just mediocre as I expected it to be.
How very wrong I was! This vacuum is worth every penny! I've recently retired and am cleaning my house from top to bottom, and this vacuum has made it so EASY! It's lightweight, and easy to keep with me no matter what kind of tight space I'm working in -- the attachments are lightweight and remove and attach easily, and the attachments reach virtually ANYWHERE! The vacuum is weighted for a woman -- so I can easily maneuver it anywhere I need to, just as they showed on the demonstration videos! I have mild arthritis in my shoulder and arm and hand, but it doesn't hurt when I use the Dyson. No more lifting a heavy vacuum in tight spaces, and not being able to maneuver it where I need it to go without hurting myself. I vacuumed under my bed, and the vacuum just laid flat and I could vacuum all the way under it easily and quickly! It's so lightweight and balanced in such a way that vacuuming just seems sort of intuitive, like it "knows" what I want it to do, and it never disappoints! It removes dust and dirt from corners and tight spaces quickly and easily!
This vacuum is really NOT comparable to any other vacuum on the market. Its far above and beyond a normal vacuum cleaner. As for the battery life, it's worked perfectly for me! I have a very small house, and only work in a small area at one time, so I just plug it back into its holder when I'm not using it and it charges right back up. The charging wall holder is just amazing and so convenient!!
The one con would be that the debris cannister is quite small -- we have three very large dogs, so I end up with a LOT of hair in the cannister every time I vacuum, but it's really simple to empty it out, so it hasn't been a problem.
I'm just so VERY glad I bought this vacuum. I never thought I could be so enthusiastic about a vacuum cleaner, but I love my Dyson!!!

We were tired of pushing around heavy vacuums so we decided to get a lightweight vacuum. We considered the Shark corded and cordless, but the Dyson passed our in-store tests. We have 2/3 tile floors and 1/3 carpeted floors at our house. It really meets all of our requirements, except for runtime. We were not going to pay an additional $150 for the V8 with its double battery, so that is all the complaining I can give this topic for the V6. Its only other downside is that you have to keep the trigger depressed for it to run, and that gets tiring after 5 minutes; a lock or a palm switch would be easier. It lasts about 20 minutes, or on MAX only 6 minutes. It took a few days with charge cycles and runtime to figure out that we never really need MAX. Either floor type worked fine at the regular setting and we could see everything swirling around the canister while we cleaned, so we knew it was doing its job. So one or two rooms at a time and back to the charger. Because of its small shape a that it is so lightweight it gets right under sofas, beds, and tables; no more missed areas. It is fun to use still after a month. And in dustbuster mode, it kicks butt; I never had anything that could clean the cars so easily. Only the shop vac had more suction, but now I don't have to wind up 50' of extension cord. Because of the ease of use and low weight, we vacuum sofas and seats which were previously avoided due to size and weight of a shop vac. Now the seats are maintained cleaner than before.

Hang it. Charge it. Couple of rooms done with in about 16 minutes which is about my tolerance for spit shine on the go. Really powerful little monster with attachments which will reach into the wire maze in your media center, stairs, closet, home office, kitchen drawers. The only thing you'll be tripping over is your shoes, no dragging around a cord looking for a plug. Pop the latch to empty the catch bin, wash a filter once a month instead of having to buy filters. Hang it back up, you're done. Out performs any vacuum I've ever owned. Every friend that's seen it wants one.

Dyson Animal V6

I would highly recommend this Dyson Animal V6. It is an expensive vacuum but it's worth it for quick jobs. I use this for spot cleaning so I don't have to use my regular Hoover vacuum. Let me tell you, I used my Hoover and then tried my new Dyson and it was amazing at what this cordless vacuum picked up. I was in shock. This cordless vacuum has so much suction and power it will blow your mind. The only downside to this purchase is, it takes about 3 hours to charge and you get about 20mins of run time using the sweeper attachment, less time if you use the max vacuum function. If you use the attachments, you will get more run time. I haven't used the attachments yet to see how long it will run though. It comes with several attachments and an upholstery brush. You can also mount the vacuum to the wall or just store the vacuum in the closet, which I do. The wall mount doesn't come with screws, so you're on your own if your choose that route. I also like the fact that you can go from carpet to hardwood and tile without having to stop and change settings. You can even get under couches, beds and dressers. The Dyson does come with a 2 yr warranty if you register online. Over all I would highly recommend this vacuum and I'm very pleased with this purchase. My next purchase will be a Dyson vacuum to replace my Hoover.

We had another cordless vacuum before that wasn't as strong and convenient and light but it's charge period was pretty long. This vacuum has 15-20 min charge which is still enough for regular quick clean but might not be enough for proper long cleaning. We got used to it very quickly, but first couple of times it was a bit frustrating. Other than that - amazing vacuum. Lightweight, convenient, powerful enough, lots of end-parts for all sort of cleaning situations. With our constantly shedding husky we vacuum almost every day and this vacuum makes the process a lot easier.

Wonderful, light weight, powerful. My only complaints: the container that the debris is collected into is small, so you'll have to empty it often, and it's a little tricky to get open and empty the contents. And, as everyone else has already mentioned, it doesn't hold a charge for too long, so you may not be able to vacuum everything that you intended to in the same period of time. Other than that, 5 stars!

Bought this for quick clean-ups and for use in an RV. Incredible suction and very handy in small spaces. Easy to charge. Works well on both hard and carpeted surfaces. Light weight and easy to take from the house to the RV. Make sure to get cleaning done in 20 minutes, because when the battery is done, it's done and has nothing left until charged again.

This vacuum is amazing. It very light and colorful. it has amazing suction. I have a dog that sheds hair and birds who spill their bird seed on the food. This machine has no issue picking it all up. I do wish that it has a bigger canister to hold trash. Also for some reason when you open and set up the machine from the box.... its set up with the max power function on. So make sure you turn it off so battery life lasts longer. Overall it's an amazing tool, you can use it at home or for the car. All the tools included are helpful and useful. At the same time is pretty quiet unless you use max power than its really loud. I do recommend this product especially if it's on sale. Also! Its very durable I've dropped it a few times and it runs fine.

I had a bad experience with an earlier version of this lightweight vac. I hate heavy vacs and really wanted something that could go from my prized Turkish carpet directly to our tile floors. The first machine worked beautifully until I took it apart, then it wouldn't go back together again (this was the version 56). Luckily, I had bought the warranty. Went back; they were out of 56's; I paid $150 more for the Animal and I'm not sorry. It's the perfect combination of power, versatility and airy lightness. I love it and now I vacuum every day; we are inundated with cat hair all the time, plus street dirt and (this being Hawaii), the carapaces of dead bugs. Happy, Happy. The only reason I haven't given it five stars is I want to be sure it doesn't come apart the way the other one did.

After hearing all the raves from family and friends about the awesomeness that is Dyson, I decided to take the plunge and get a Dyson for my wife for Christmas (V6 Animal cordless stick). Mainly, we were tired of having to buy a new cordless stick vacuum seemingly every year (Dirt Devil, Eureka, Hoover, etc.), so I am hoping to get more life out of this Dyson, especially since I purchased the extended 2 year Geek Squad warranty (4 years total of warranty). First off, the Dyson does work exactly as reported; it is a VERY powerful picker-upper, and cleans quite thoroughly. The only two "complaints" are--same as everyone else--is that (A) the battery lasts exactly 20 minutes, or less (not quite enough time to do a typical Florida all-hard-floor house), and (B) there is no trigger lock to hold the vacuum in the "On" position... the user has to hold the trigger down the entire time.

I bought this for my mom. Due to health issues and spinal degeneration, she is unable to use a standard vaccuum. The weight and motion associated with a normal sized vacuum was killing her back. I also considered the shark, but it wasn't as light. This vacuum has given her freedom back. She can do the carpet, tile bathroom, linoleum kitchen, and all the dusting with this tool. Living in a house with three large dogs, bi-daily vacuuming is essential. She enjoys operating the device in its second mode, in which I dub Beast Mode. On its maidian voyage, it pulled years old dirt from the carpets. Battery life could be better, but I'm sure it's on the way with the next model. This thing is light and powerful.

I decided to buy this vacuum over the big Dyson ball rollers after extensive research. Very light and compact which I find a big plus. I was impressed by the suction, it was almost comparable to my ridged that has 5 peak hp. Comes with a variety of interchangeable pieces for different jobs which I found most of them work the same. If you live in a small apartment or home you might be satisfied with battery life. My home is 3000 sf so ifar I'm vacuuming the whole house I need to charge it 1-2 times to finish. Honestly was going to return because of that but my wife insisted it was not a big deal.

I've been a Dyson user for 10+ years and with 150 pounds of Labrador wouldn't trade my ball vacuum for ANYTHING. I was a bit suspicious of the handheld Dyson vacuum options given the huge amounts of dog hair in our home, but was very pleasantly surprised by the power and usefulness of this vac. Its small form factor and light weight make it my new go-to tool for stairs, baseboards, hard to reach places, and quick cleanup. It handles the copious amounts of dog hair wonderfully and with the detachable canister dumping is easy. Couldn't recommend this enough!
